According to the results of the third public poll, experts of the Institute have drawn the following conclusions:

1. Distrust to the courts and acknowledgement of “club law” in the country. Three fourths of Ukrainians think that it is impossible to get the truth in courts or it costs much money; two thirds are sure that the court judgment can be bought with money; more than a half of respondents consider courts to be guilty for impunity of criminals. However, the more prosperity index of respondents, the more assurance that it is possible to get the truth in courts.

2. Corruption aptitude of the society and recognition by the respondents of corruption as an integral part of public process. Two thirds of Ukrainian citizens happen to bribe; almost 85% of respondents think that corruption is, on the whole, widespread in Ukraine, herewith more than a half of respondents are not expecting for much publicized anticorruption cases and arrests that is the evidence of distrust to authorities; a half of Ukrainian citizens are sure that police and courts are corrupted.

3. Citizen’s readiness and tolerant attitude to those who suffer convictions to be high up in the civil and public service. One third of respondents assert that will vote for a political party in the list of which is a person accused of crime. 40% of respondents have an objection to the person with convictions occupy a post of President of the country. Besides more than a half of Ukrainians do not make an objection to such people to be a teacher or a tutor.

4. Nihilism of half the citizens of Ukraine with a respect to the private property. More than a half of respondents do not take the inviolability of private property.

5. General perception of insecurity. Each third respondent have been a victim because of criminal activity, herewith one forth of victims turned to for help to relatives, friends or to the representatives of criminals, but one thirds of them didn’t turn for help at all. The deepest worries of respondents are caused by street crime. Moreover two thirds of respondents either have means of self protection, or would like to have. But only 20% of respondents stand for legalization of firearms.

6. A fear of open protest against the authority. More than a half of respondents think there are some reasons to fear of open protests against the authority and almost half of respondents are sure that actions of mass protest are hardly probable in nearest future.

7. Distrust to the authority. Two thirds of Ukrainians would not entrust the election of the President of Ukraine by deputies of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament of Ukraine). And 90% of Ukrainians stand for canceling the inviolability of a deputy.
